Passive Voice Recording with SPAN

Passive recording monitors the voice and signaling traffic and sends it to the AND Phone Recorder. The AND Phone Recorder listens to the RTP voice traffic and signaling. Delivering traffic to the AND Phone Recorder is done by a SPAN port on the switch. In larger environments it is possible to use RSPAN or VSPAN to get exactly the traffic required.

Some considerations when using passive recording with SPAN:

Signaling and Voice is delivered through SPAN port
Works for Communications
Manager Express as well
Skinny (SCCP) only
No additional voice traffic in the network

This type of recording is usually only required if no JTAPI interface to the

Manager is available, e.g. when using recording for the

Communications

Manager Express. Be aware that only Skinny (SCCP) is supported as signaling protocol.

The image shows the switch with a SPAN port where the whole voice and signalling traffic is duplicated. The traffic is delivered to the AND Phone Application Server and decoded.
